Procedures:
Morning Parking Lot Procedure:
Please pay special attention to the morning parking procedure and the drop-off zone in the South parking lot. Teachers will be on duty to assist parents and students with the drop-off process. All parents and guardians are requested to follow teacher directions to assure the safety of all our children.
Dismissal Procedure:
Dismissal on Monday through Thursday is at 3pm. Dismissal on Friday is at 12:30.
Parent or designated person may pick up the second grader at the south parking lot gate. When Ms. McGarey recognizes the adult, she will call the student by name and check the name off her clip chart. Parents, please respect the time and privacy of everyone during this time. Thank you for your cooperation!
Any student not picked up by 3:15 will be walked to ESD (Extended School Day) and will sign in.
Attendance/Tardy Policy:
The first bell rings at 7:35. The tardy bell rings at 7:50. Any student who is not in the classroom in his or her seat at 7:50 will be considered tardy. Bell work begins upon arrival and assembly begins promptly at 8:00. Students arriving after 7:50 should respectfully wait near the front office corridor rather than hurry to join assembly late. Student must check in at the office and obtain a tardy slip to give to Ms. McGarey. No tardy will be excused for a medical or dental appointment without a note from the doctor's office.
The parent will be notified through RenWeb of excessive tardies and consequences.
Lunch, Snack and Water:
Please send a healthy snack, a lunch and a water bottle to school with your child each day. Parents must send a lunch each day unless a school lunch has been ordered. Please do not drop off take-out or late lunches to the school office. It is an inconvenience and a disruption to the office staff and to the class. Thank you for your cooperation.
School Absence Policy:
Parents must call the school office any day a child is absent. Please also write an email to Ms. McGarey to let her know why your child is out of school. Excessive absences affect the student's performance, progress and grades.
Make-up Work:
When your child is absent, I am teaching other students during the day. Therefore, I will assign classwork and homework missed when s/he returns to class. It is extremely difficult to coordinate all missed assignments for all absentees on that day. Your child will have one day for each missed day to complete and return all make-up work once assigned. Thank you for your consideration.
Please adhere to the school holidays for family vacations.
Assignments will not be provided before a family vacation taken when school is in session. Your child may request make-up assignments when s/he returns. Parents take responsibility for assisting a child with the instruction upon return to school. Exceptions will be considered by the teacher on an individual basis.
Thank you.
