Second grade is a year of growth as independent learners and critical thinkers. It is also a significant year in your child's spiritual journey, as s/he will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Curriculum Highlights:
Religion:
An important theme this year is forgiveness. Students strive to make positive choices and to learn from their mistakes. Seven-year-olds know the difference between right and wrong and learn that "sin" is a falling out of God's grace. They learn that God forgives them and wants them to forgive others.
Language Arts
Your child is becoming an independent reader. Continuing with the Superkids language arts curriculum, s/he will expand comprehension and fluency skills this year.

Many of second grade’s math skills were introduced in first grade and will be studied in more depth.
Mastering basic addition and subtraction facts and using hands-on manipulatives are emphasized. Two- and three-digit numbers are used in computation. Teamwork and critical thinking are key. Independent reading skills are required for word problems and test taking.
